Drawing on Monday morning with Pim

Today's still life

Every other Monday, Pim gives his drawing class, in which everything that has to do with drawing happens! Pim takes the group out to an interesting landscape or village, or he builds one of his great still lives.

Everything passes by on the Monday morning, composition, perspective, shadow & light, contrast, you name it. Also the techniques with which you achieve the best drawing are discussed in-depth.
It is a worthwhile class, in general, but also a great preparation and background for the live drawing class...

Show your Art!

Last Sunday, Hangar-member Imme Kooman opened her stunning, modern villa, to offer a taste of her cooking class teacher's Italian cuisine and to show her paintings in a 'Popup Exhibition' to celebrate the Rentree!
Imme is in Pim's abstract class of the Monday night and she said, "my work looks so much better on the walls than on a stack underneath the stairs"

A lot of admiring visitors attended, Pim is not in the above picture but he was there too. As were many other Hangar colleagues! Look at the pictures and as you will agree, this work deserves to be out in the open! It was a wonderful initiative - definitely Worth repeating!

Marina in Franchement Art

From Friday 6 September - Monday 9 September, yours truly (watercolour & drawing teach Marina Kulik) has a stand on the Contemporary Art Fair "Franchement Art" in Villefranche s/Mer! The work will be pretty new for everyone, because I am showing acrylic paintings (with even a bit of oil here and there) this time... The Ever Evolving work of art, Chaos theory and two paintings I made on music for the Holotropic Art Symposium in Rumania, check it all out in Stand 36!

There is a lot to be seen anyway, there are 60 artists in total, the whole village of Villefranche is turned into a gallery I'm told! You will be able to enjoy all kinds of original paintings, sculptures, installations, theatre and other creative happenings!

If you want to visit, Franchement Art is open every day from 11am - 8pm, entrance is free!

Abstract painting on Monday with Pim

While most of us are away or otherwise on holiday, Pim's abstract painting group is still going strong! Lately they have studied the 'Cobra' period and created their own interpretations.

Sue Ellis (L) and Anne-Marie Vogelenzang (R) next to their respective paintings

Anne-Marie Vogelenzang used to be a member of this group, until she moved to Paris. This summer she returned to work with Pim once more!

D A Y T R I P T O B A R G È M E

This Thursday (25 July) Pim and Marina organize ‘a day trip’ and they invite you to come with them to Bargème (83840) for the day!
Bargème is a lovely, unspoilt medieval village with an absolutely breathtaking view, 36 km north of Draguignan.
The program:
We depart around 9.30am from the Hangar, in as few cars as possible.
It is a 60km drive through the beautiful Var which will cost us approximately an hour.
We will determine the right locations, get instructions and sketch with pencils.

We have booked an extensive lunch in the lovely local restaurant ‘les Jardins de Bargème’ at 12. After which we will work out the sketches using ink, sepia, watercolours and ecoline, in the shade – or draw another subject. You will find that there is more than plenty to see and be inspired by!!
We aim to be back in the Hangar around 5.30 pm.

The price for the day, with two teachers and all drawing materials, boards, paper, ink etc is 50€ pp.
An excellent 3-course lunch menu will be served for around 20€
If you have them available, please bring one or more folding chairs.
Also a bottle of water, a hat, sunscreen, a parasol…
Could you let Marina know (via artsandcrafts@orange.fr) if you are going to participate?

You can look forward to a lovely day 'in pure nature'
