Café Culture Cinéma - Wednesday 30 March

Frida Kahlo & Chateauneuf

A great turnout for our last Café Culture! and a very international audience too - thanks to Marijke Obbink, new boardmember with 'Events Organising' as responsibility...
On top of that, the movie was received with great enthusiasm of all. It was good and nobody noticed that it lasted two full hours!

After that, whilst nibbling and drinking a glass, Pim presented to us a relief that was created in his Monday morning class. It is a drawing of the village of Chateauneuf, in several layers to suggest depth and it is absolutely stunning!!

Apart from the artist behind the original idea (Lucia Gualtieri) who did an amazing job organizing all this and putting it together with Peter Lea (who is not in the pictures because he took most of them)
Peter Lea, together with Carol Fischer and Hélène Pons spent hours in the Hangar and at home, painstakingly creating houses, trees, towers, pavements, lampposts and more in the finest pen-and-ink lines you can possibly imagine...

Great credit therefore also goes to their spouses, who put up with them and made sure there was plenty of tea. And last but not least a big HURRAY for Pim who as always was there helping out and inspiring the group!
And with result: Everybody absolutely loved it!

We are proud of you and Chateauneuf can again be happy that they have such a fantastic Art Centre!!

Wednesday 19.30: Café Culture Zadkine

This year's spring trip led us amongst others to the Zadkine museum. That was a fabulous experience, which we would love to share with all of you! This Wednesday, during the Café Culture, Pim and Marina will present the Zadkine story, illustrated with a collection of pictures and 2 short movies.
Apart from interesting content there are drinks and nibbles to be enjoyed - and you are most welcome to join, Hangar doors open around 7.30!
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday...

The Café Culture Cinéma of 21 March 2012

This is what you MISSED...
A very very good documentary movie about Annie Leibovitz, the great photographer who worked for the magazine 'Rolling Stone' and photographed John Lennon 5 hours before he was shot, the Stones, Leonardo di Caprio, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Demi Moore and did mega creative photoshoots for Vanity Fair and Vogue, well - you name it. And a lovely person, a true artist...

And then of course around all that the interesting and highly appreciated exhibition of the Aquarellistas work on the 'Carnival de Venice'... We showed that the Hangar can be changed in a very attractive gallery! And we showed that the quality of our work is high. Such a shame that there were only 20 visitors!! So - for all of you who couldn't make it, here are a couple of pictures of the 'exposette'... (click to enlarge)
The Carnival paintings

The 'Stripey Nudes'

Other Aquarelles

 Before the movie...

Drinkees after the movie

Aquarellistast Edith Alborni, Monique Randazzo and last -but certainly not least- Agnès McLaughlin, thank you so very much for your support, clever ideas and help with the hanging and the taking down of all the paintings!!
