The 2018 Spring Trip to Vigevano Part 1

23 May: PIAZZA DUCALE

After it turned out that there was no bus for us (despite the confirmation) 21 Hangar artists decided to share taxis to the old center of Vigevano! Not a bad idea, the only disadvantage was that we didn't all arrive at the same time, but it was less expensive than the bus - and more flexible! (And we got tips about nice places from the taxidrivers...)
Around 10 am we installed ourselves, all 21 artists, on the fabulous Piazza Ducale. As you can see there were not many tourists - and despite the forecast, it stayed dry - better yet, the sun came out from time to time.
The 'warming up' was to create a couple of drawings, in the style of a 'carnet de voyage', with the BIC-pen and the fineliner that all the artists had received in their welcome present. No eraser, no colour, just short impressions.
We had lunch in one of the many lovely stylish restaurants. Great food, extremely attractive prices and of course lots of fun! After lunch most artists weren't done with the Piazza (it was so varied and beautiful, with a nearly endless amount of great subjects) - but some went up the stairs to already check out the park (the destination of day 2)

All in all, amazing work was created - Pim, Nelly and I were impressed with the quality and variety!
There were so many different styles, every artist had a personal touch and that led to a creative line up, in a great atmosphere. Below a small selection of the work made on the first day. We plan to organise an evening soon, where you can see much more artwork - and all the photos we took!!
I'm sure you'll  get a good impression of the Piazza Ducale from the following sketches:
