The Hangar Trip to the Gard - Day 2

The second day of our Hangar trip, we spent in beautiful Uzès, a town with much to offer in terms of architecture, quaint streets, a fabulous market and wonderful restaurants.
We started in and around the Botanical Garden, drawing the little streets, or plants and trees with the exercise of 'having something big in the foreground' for extra perspective. After a perfect lunch we continued painting in the old centre, with the exercise to use the bright colours of our gift sets. Everyone worked hard and concentrated, despite the heat! We did the line up in the hotel, and then had a truly great dinner! You can see all that in the second video by Marina T!

The Hangar Trip to the Gard - Day 1

On 13, 14 and 15 June, a group of enthusiastic Hangar members were in the beautiful and inspiring department the Gard, to draw and paint together. Teachers Marina Teding van Berkhout and Marina Kulik guided the artists and advised them where necessary.
This blog post is about the first day, Friday the 13th, when we arrived in Saint Remy de Provence and drew and painted in the 'Maison de Santé' where Vincent van Gogh was treated for some time.
It was a splendid place, with a museum with all the original attributes from the time van Gogh stayed there, and breathtaking gardens (with lavender!), as well as a monastery, where it was actually cool despite the 32°C outside... We all found good spots and were very much inspired.
