The 2018 Spring Trip to Vigevano Part 1

23 May: PIAZZA DUCALE

After it turned out that there was no bus for us (despite the confirmation) 21 Hangar artists decided to share taxis to the old center of Vigevano! Not a bad idea, the only disadvantage was that we didn't all arrive at the same time, but it was less expensive than the bus - and more flexible! (And we got tips about nice places from the taxidrivers...)
Around 10 am we installed ourselves, all 21 artists, on the fabulous Piazza Ducale. As you can see there were not many tourists - and despite the forecast, it stayed dry - better yet, the sun came out from time to time.
The 'warming up' was to create a couple of drawings, in the style of a 'carnet de voyage', with the BIC-pen and the fineliner that all the artists had received in their welcome present. No eraser, no colour, just short impressions.
We had lunch in one of the many lovely stylish restaurants. Great food, extremely attractive prices and of course lots of fun! After lunch most artists weren't done with the Piazza (it was so varied and beautiful, with a nearly endless amount of great subjects) - but some went up the stairs to already check out the park (the destination of day 2)

All in all, amazing work was created - Pim, Nelly and I were impressed with the quality and variety!
There were so many different styles, every artist had a personal touch and that led to a creative line up, in a great atmosphere. Below a small selection of the work made on the first day. We plan to organise an evening soon, where you can see much more artwork - and all the photos we took!!
I'm sure you'll  get a good impression of the Piazza Ducale from the following sketches:

The Wooden Blocks are exhibited in Valbonne until 27 May!

Remember the War and Peace blocs we painted?

They are now part of a 'wall' created by artists, locals and children of Valbonne, in an exhibition inside the Salle St Esprit (next to the church in Valbonne).

The blocs are part of an exhibition to commemorate the first world war.

Last Saturday was the official opening, and Patricia Civel's impressive book  about the brave Valbonnais Albert Pourcel was presented in the presence of the mayor, senateur, and other dignitaries.
I can really recommend the book!It has lots of beautiful old pictures of Valbonne, the original letters of Albert Pourcel, which give a good image of how he experienced the war, missed his girl - and the story created by Patricia around the actual events. There is even a watercolour in it by Marina Kulik...

  Price: 29€

Until Sunday 27 May incl. you can admire the blocs and the other art, and buy the book, the expo is open every day except Monday, from 2 - 6 pm...

For those of you who can't make it - here are some pictures (note that there is SO much more! )

8 April, Francesca's next Atelier Expression: Art à Fleur de peau - the sense of touch

The sense of touch has the main role in this workshop where you will realize a painting or an object using different tactile materials: fabrics, threads, natural and artificial materials.
The sense of touch is the first sense to develop in the fetus and is the first instrument of knowledge of the world.
Little by little, as we grow up, this sense is set aside for the benefit of sight, continually solicited.
The sense of touch allows us to live a strong sensory experience in the here and now and to get in touch with our body memory.
Each material carries with it a subjective value linked to its experience and a universal value, linked to the collective experience.
A material can be used to talk about oneself, to express oneself and to symbolize the personal feeling.
Creative work through the sense of touch allows one to move away from the mind and to trust in a primordial sense.
Touch, recognize and create freely following your sensations and your intuition.

Hours - 9: 30-12: 30
Price: 35 euro
Location: The Hangar - 310 Chemin du Ranch - 06740 Châteauneuf

RESERVATION OBLIGATORY by email or phone:
email: francescames@yahoo.it
Tel. 0787693950
