Model Drawing on Monday mornings - with Marina

Last Monday we had a session with the beautiful Marie. It was as always very inspiring, and required a lot of concentration. Everyone was exhausted after 2 hours of intense observation, but the results were very good. We drew quick poses, one minute and two minutes:

 We drew 10-minute poses:

And spent the last hour drawing Marie in a reclined pose:

Coming Monday (16 March) there's another session, this time with Melisandre, another favorite of our group...

NELLY!

Last Tuesday was a glorious day in many respects!
Most important, it was a significant birthday for our beloved teacher of the oil group Nelly 'TIM' van Hijfte... Her class, some aquarellistas and the Hangar board threw her a little party with presents, bubbly and nibbles... After a nice birthday speech by our president Ton van Schijndel, and vice-president Charmian Murley, Nelly promised to stay at least another five years - which makes us all very happy! Here are some pics:

Spring is in the air...

Last Tuesday the weather was so fabulous, that Christiane and Anna-Karin decided to make a watercolour of spring flowers instead of our theme du jour...
Crocuses by Anna-Karin, not even finished but already fabulous!

Mimosa by Christiane - you can almost smell them...

The theme du jour by the way was 'reflection of a female figure' and most aquarellistas started with it, did good work, but not far enough to show here yet.

The one by Avril is so cool! We agreed, it has a 'fifties' atmosphere

And how about this cute little girl by Edith... A fairytale...

Start of a beauty, reflection not yet there, by Sandra

And then the Animal-section:

  Edith's cat with interesting knot

Cathie's back from SA - she warmed up with these (wooden!) fish - they look amazing - and quite real

Edith created a stunning driftwood elephant, combining the 'pattern' of drift wood with a 'real' elephant...

Agnès can't be with us at the moment - but that doesn't mean she is not watercolouring! Here's another wonderful wild animal from her hand - combined with driftwood - he's on it ☺

Aquarelle - Tuesday 2 - 4.30pm, with Marina

Driftwood & Manga...
Last Tuesday we let ourselves be inspired by driftwood... It was not easy - but the results were impressive. Also, we had two guests, Manon and Christine, who brought their own subject - also inspiring and defiunitely something we will one day give a try: Manga... a typical Japanese style of comic book drawing...

Costanza took a simple  example and made this exciting aquarelle out of it!

Christiane created a colourful and real-looking piece of driftwood

Christine combined watercolours and felt pen for this excellent worn wood

Edith (work in progress) created a driftwood-elephant

Great colours and shapes inspired by driftwood - by Sandra

Avril's driftwood - in progress

And then there were two guests: Christine (L) and Manon (R) - they brought their own subject: an Egyptian beauty in Manga-style... Difficult drawing and then watercolours, it was the first time they used it - and wow - they did great!
 Christine

 Manon
'Our own' Christine also gave Manga-drawing a go - and came up with a really good one:

Liz and Sandra didn't go for the Manga's but painted beautiful females with a touch of spring...
