Tuesday 23 June, 2 - 4.30pm - Watercolours with Cathie

 Tiny  people crossing a bridge

Tuesday 23 June, Marina in Holland, Cathie took over! Anna Karin worked with us after a long absence due to sad personal circumstances. She will go to Sweden for the summer, and left us with these beautiful interesting and symbolic small paintings...
Looking at the light by Anna Karin

Agnes is back, she started another portrait which in the next stage she will get more detail and a bit of pen. What an expression! Can't wait to see the result!.

Brenda's overgrown house is one step further - looks so real and mysterious!!

Edith will add more cracks to the rocks to finish her beautiful delicate painting.

Liz experimented with gauze tape - click on the picture to enlarge it - and discover the effect. Actually quite interesting and useful!

Liz almost finished her beach umbrellas.

Sandra moved on with her tulips - interesting stuff happening, it is in the final stages if you ask me

Sandra's Seascape has changed dramatically! How I love that orange!

As you can see from the aquarelles above, Cathie did a good job as always, so a great big fat THANK YOU to her for taking over again!!! We're back to normal now until end of July - Watercolour class stops in August and resumes second week of september...

Aquarelle - Tuesdays from 2 - 4.30pm with Marina

Bev has been working on a dark interior with a window - the light coming from outside. In this stage, the background is still light, but the picture is quite strong already!!

Theme for last Tuesdays' Aquarelle session was 'overgrown with ivy'. No one finished yet, but Bev and Brenda's work is already so interesting I really want you to see it. It will completely change next session!
Brenda's painting of an overgrown place - this will change enormously in the next version - there will be lots of contrast, and probably accents in feltpen. Can't wait to see the result!

Avril's Walasse Ting-cat, now finished. I love it, the personality of the cat and the clear lines, typical for Avril's style

Cathie is working on an important commission. So fragile and interesting.
(The Hangar blog will of course have the scoop on this later - watch this space!!)

A fa-bu-lous wave by Edith. The colours are stunning and it is so transparent!!

Edith also started on a new picture - at this point it is still quite abstract, but already very strong and interesting!

Linda has the Hangar watercolourbook now and will go through the exercises. Here's her 'washing' result, that went really well - now on to the 'Volume'!

Liz started with an eye candy painting! Not finished - expect stunning sharp shadows and admire the bright'n happy colours that are already there!!

This is another strangely interesting painting by Patience, with lots of pigment and it triggers a lot. It has words, like 'Marie-Josephine' and 'Limoncello'  and dates, and hearts and more in it.
Click to enlarge and enjoy more!

Sandra worked on two brilliant paintings. Above a bout of bad weather coming up. Thunder and lightning coming this way. Donker. Below the fragile tulips and a beautiful patterned 'curtain'. It is almost finished and the thing is to keep the delicacy!

And I sign off with: I am so proud of you!

The Hangar Spring Trip to Saluzzo - part 4

 The last Evening in Saluzzo!!

We started with a good look at all the work! All artists put their drawings and paintings in the walls and benches - and the teachers explained about the themes and ways of working and thanked all participants for their enthusiasm and praised them for their talent, the results are - as always on our trips surprizing and amazing!

Then it was time for the jury to have a good look at everything, because there were Certificates to be won:
The 'Prix du Public' certificate awarded by selected non-artists, who very seriously judged all work!

And the 'Prix du Jury' certificate, awarded by the teachers - just as serious...
Although they did their judging seperately, they completely agreed on the top 10!

And the winners are:.....

Brenda Moorehouse who won the Prix du Public

Catherine Dogherty who won the Prix du Jury

And then we dug in on the very Italian meal - super good, tasty and varied pizza's, combined with speeches and huge bottles of red wine for the organizers (sorry for the pictures...)

...topped off with the best italian ice cream as desert. I still dream of the strawberry flavour, I think I had 3 portions...

As you can read in this and the 3 previous ones, it was a fantastic trip, we all had a great time, and we can't wait for next time! There will be a 'Trip Reunion' after the summerbreak, we will keep you posted!! In the meantime: don't forget to send your Trip-pictures to Marina, keep 'em coming!!!
