Hangar Vouchers Now Available!

What a wonderful and original idea for a gift - to offer a Hangar Voucher to your mother (for mothers' day) or another loved one, friend or the person who invited you for a dinner party! Good conversation piece - and they will be able to try out one or more classes in the Hangar!

You can purchase the voucher via our website 

Right now it is a mothers' day special, yet general vouchers will soon be added -and other specials like Birthday, Fathers day, Valentines day etc...

The holder of the voucher can choose their class, within 12 months of issue. The price (25€ for one class or 100€ for 5 classes) covers the membership for the duration of their participation.

Marina's (Land) Art Installation in the Jardin de MIP

Since 25 April there is a contemporary art exhibition, with land art and installations, in the Gardens of the Musée de la Parfumerie de Grasse. It is called 'Figures Libres'.

One of the 11 exhibiting artists is yours truly, Marina Kulik.

Below I 'll show you some of the artwork, but the garden itself is a real reason to go, it is truly fabulous. A haven of peace, only natural methods are used to maintain it.  I have been there regularly the past couple of months and every time I have discovered new, beautiful and interesting plants and smells. Seriously recommended! 

It is in Mouans Sartoux (next to Botanic, plenty parking space) and the gardens are open every day from 10am - 6 pm. 

Also great for a stroll with your visitors!

Open until 30 September by the way, so no rush😊...

I will leave some maps and posters in the Hangar for your information.

My installation 'the O of Oxygen' is easy to find, it is close to the entrance (number 10 on the map) and after next week it will have beautiful signs saying 'l'O de l'Oxygène'. As soon as the roses are in full bloom it will be very romantic!

  There are 3 O's... One clear circle,, the other two are the best from a distance because of the perspective

the 'Insect Hotel' by Fiona Paterson... She also hopes the plants will cover a bit more, and of course that bees and other beasties will go stay there.

'Bundle' by Philippe Scardina consists of big bamboo bundles which disappear into the ground and come out of it a couple of meters further (picture above and below) like a big wave.

Bamboo Weaver, by Kim Cao, an interactive artwork is also waiting for the plants to grow in and over it,  with Francesca Messina in the foreground...

The installation 'Fragile' by Tiziano looks like a traffic sign and wants to point out the fragility of nature’s biological processes and our obligation to respect them.

'Morpho' by Isabelle Aubry, 200 wooden butterflies on a tree trunk.

Sneak Preview: Workshop Cold Wax!

Meet my friend and fellow Artist Marina Teding van Berkhout (Marina TvB)
She creates artworks using oil paint and ‘Cold Wax’. You may have seen her beautiful work in our last ‘Theoule’ exhibition.

Je vous présente mon amie et collègue artiste Marina Teding van Berkhout (Marina TvB)
Elle crée des œuvres d’art à l’aide de peinture à l’huile et de ‘Cold Wax Medium’ (Le médium à la Cire Froide). Vous l’avez peut-être déjà vue lors de notre dernière exposition à Theoule.

Marina has offered to give a workshop on Friday afternoons, for those interested in the technique.
Cold Wax Medium makes your oil paints thicker, but does not change their color and gives them a fabulous texture.
 
Marina a proposé de donner un atelier le vendredi après-midi aux personnes intéressées par cette technique. Le médium épaissit vos peintures à l'huile, mais ne change pas la couleur et vous permet de créer des textures vigoureux

In her workshop, Marina teaches you how to use Cold Wax. You will experiment with ways to add texture and layering. There will be a variety of drawing materials and tools including brayers, brushes, palette knives, scrapers and squeegees. Marina helps you build up a painting, abstract or figurative and she will show you the favorite techniques that she has learned over the past years.


Dans son atelier, Marina vous apprend à utiliser le Médium à la Cire Froide. Vous apprendrez à ajouter de la texture et des fines couches de peinture.
 
Il y aura une variété de matériel de dessin et d’outils de peinture, notamment des rouleaux encreurs, des couteaux à peindre, des couteaux à palette Catalyst, des grattoirs et des raclettes. Marina vous aide à créer des tableaux, abstraite ou figurative, et vous montrera ses techniques préférées qu’elle a apprises au cours de ces dernières années.

Starter or experienced oil painter, you will definitely get to know exciting new techniques that will certainly enhance your work! Monday Morning Drawing Class

This Monday morning Pim had important other matters to tend to and I had the pleasure of 'filling in' for Pim.
And I absolutely loved it, what a talented bunch of people they are!
We drew a still life of a bust, wrapped in white silk. The results were so impressive that I want to share them with you - also because it may actually inspire you to try out the drawing class. The next drawing class by Pim will be on Monday 18 March (on Monday 11 March there will be a life class with a nude...)

Cleaning the Hangar side room

Message from Sculpture Teacher Marie: 

l'Atelier de modelage fait un peu de ménage au Hangar !!!

The Sculpture group does a little housekeeping in the Hangar !!!

The sculptures, clay, outdated products that are there since... well, quite long, in the storage and on the shelves, they belong to - WHOM??

Des modelages, terre, produits périmés stockés depuis.....fort longtemps dans la réserve ou sur les étagères sont à QUI ??

Nous commençons un nettoyage de printemps,  jeudi 7 mars, merci de récupérer ce qui vous appartient, afin de libérer de la place et dépoussiérer !

We will start spring cleaning, Thursday 7 March, could you please remove your sculpture related things before that, so that we can free up the space and dust it off!
