Basic Live Model drawing - on Friday mornings - with Marina Kulik

On Friday mornings (until Christmas) there is a workshop 'Live drawing for starters'. With a lot of anatomy and perspective, and many tips and tricks...The first 4 mornings we woked from very big photo's, and  last Friday we had a live nude model for the first time and the results were amazing!!

Thursday modelling classes with Christie

These past few weeks we have been experimenting with high firing clay. These come in many colours, but we have been concentrating on black, white and red. High firing clay is what is used for stoneware and needs to be fired up to 1200 degrees C.

The objects below are quite chunky and have been left to dry 2-3 months and longer, before firing. By waiting so long there is less chance of cracking.

Next stage will be to finish them off - putting on patinas, glazing and/or mounting.

This is Christine's rabbit

This is Celina's lady - a summer project

The class is open for experienced artist as well as beginners. Come along and try it out. We have a lot of fun every Thursday. The theme before christmas - is animals. In the new year Christie has a new theme for us.

Aquarelle Tuesdays - 2 - 4.30pm with Marina

 Work in progress by Anna-Karin

Our theme du jour of last Tuesday was 'Red Cabbage' and we used close-up pictures of Dutch photographer Renate Leijen.

Elia B.

Next to the theme, others worked on several subjects... Avril and Fabienne did another exercise: suggestion of transparency. Here's Avril's version:

Fabienne started a double portrait - a very very difficult subject in aquarelle, but version 1 already looks quite good!

Cathie is working on a series of shells and small fragile sea creatures...
And then there is the Christmas/New Year/Winter theme ofcourse, going on until end of December!

Aquarelle Tuesdays 2 - 4.30 with Marina - 1

Most of the group were working on the Christmas & New Years' cards, but not all! Avril and Fabienne worked on the next exercise, a painting built up in several layers, with planning needed! They tried out masking fluid for the stars (or first snow as we decided when they were a bit on the big and regulare side for stars). But it looks good!! Well done you two...

Anna-Karin's doodle in the last 5 minutes - meeting in the nudist camp?

Mieke worked on a still life with snail shells in a glass jar...

...and so did Cathie...

As every year, we are having great fun in November and December, preparing creative stuff for Christmas and New Year. This year we're producing cards for very special people... I love'em all!
