Crazy Faces in Aquarelle (and oil pastels)

Last Tuesday we felt like having fun - and we did! Helped by oil pastels, lots of big blobs of watercolour paint and straws, we created wild hair on funny-looking faces.Very addictive.

 Christiane's heart shaped face

Christine painted her daughters - looking forward to the holidays

The oil pastel/watercolour technique can also be used for other things than crazy hair - like this tree by Jovita!
Jovita also worked on a starters exercise - and she did it very well!

Mieke also painted bright colours, suggesting a hand... Can you see it?

Guus took the right/left-brainhalf crunch and was so confused that it took him almost the full 2 hours to get this drawing done... Water-colours next time...

Sandra finished her wild seascape. I think the orange on the top is exciting!

And Sandra finished this girl with a flowery hat, in true Sandra-style!

Aquarelle Tuesdays - 2 - 4.30pm with Marina

 Work in progress by Anna-Karin

Our theme du jour of last Tuesday was 'Red Cabbage' and we used close-up pictures of Dutch photographer Renate Leijen.

Next to the theme, others worked on several subjects... Avril and Fabienne did another exercise: suggestion of transparency. Here's Avril's version:

Fabienne started a double portrait - a very very difficult subject in aquarelle, but version 1 already looks quite good!

Cathie is working on a series of shells and small fragile sea creatures...

And then there is the Christmas/New Year/Winter theme ofcourse, going on until end of December!

Agnès has an incredible talent to create the 'roaring 20's' look

And last but certainly not least, the atmospheric, poetic images from the minds of Liz, Elia B. and Sandra

Aquarelle Tuesdays 2 - 4.30 with Marina - 1

Most of the group were working on the Christmas & New Years' cards, but not all! Avril and Fabienne worked on the next exercise, a painting built up in several layers, with planning needed! They tried out masking fluid for the stars (or first snow as we decided when they were a bit on the big and regulare side for stars). But it looks good!! Well done you two...

Anna-Karin's doodle in the last 5 minutes - meeting in the nudist camp?

Mieke worked on a still life with snail shells in a glass jar...

...and so did Cathie...

Bull finch in the snow by Orjan (he's back!!)

Sandra's lovely guy in the sun is coming along really well!!!

EXHIBITION AQUARELLES IN CHATEAU DES DEMOISELLES

Until 14 January 2015, the watercolours of the Aquarellista group will be on display in the lovely Chateau des Demoiselles! We did our best to create an interesting combination of small and larger works.
Liz and Tricia putting up paintings

Chateau des Demoiselles is in La Motte in the Var, a one-hour drive from the Hangar. We can recommend a visit, a walk through the vineyards and a winetasting there! It is really worthwhile - and their wines are excellent! They are also enthusiastic promotors of art, that's why they organise exhibitions on a regular basis.

Visit their site for more information: http://www.chateaudesdemoiselles.com/

We would love to see you on our opening night, Friday 26 September, from 6 - 8 pm.
A wonderful opportunity to check out our artwork, have some wonderful nibbles and last but not least sample the quality wines of the chateau!

The Exhibitors are:
Agnès McLaughlin, Anna-Karin Fast, Beverly Ellsley, Cathie van der Stel, Constanza Rock, Elia B., Liz Douglas, Marina Kulik, Mieke van Papen, Orjan Rinnert, Pauline Bull, Sandra Seymour-Dale and Tricia Bennett!
