Model drawing on Monday mornings - with Marina

The advanced class: short, shorter, shortest poses! And then almost a full hour...
Here you see a couple of drawings with the same pose from different angels:
With shortest poses, the model turns around in the same position:

With the short poses, the viewpoints of all artists differ

And with the very long poses, everyone's perspective is different, but many of the participants actually walk around and draw the model from all edges... Others create a portrait - using all the time for that...

Tuesday 2 - 4.30pm, Aquarelle with Marina

Last Wednesday the aquarellistas painted 'baby-animals' because we thought that would be a good emotional subject to get over calculating and left-brainhalf stripes of the zebra's.
Unfortunately, baby animals are quite fluffy, so we had a challenge. Fluffy in watercolours can be achieved with a lot of water and patience: wet the surface where the fluff is going to be, and paint the dark background leaving out the animal, and add the lighter colour of the fur or the feathers later

Or have a dry hard brush -or a toothbrush- ready, paint the dark background and brush over the dark background. Like litttle mister piggy here:

You can also create a painting that is so cute that no one cares about the fluffiness, like Agnès did with this upside-down'n-rolling-around kitten!

Edith  started an übercute baby elephant (not furry)

And Avril and Liz practised on a duckling... Avril's above, not finished, but looks promising!

Fluffy panda by Cathie (she calls it her depressed Panda - but I clearly see him smile)
Happy penguins in the last rays sunshine by Liz

And then there were projects to finish - and Anna-Karin started her zebra - experiencing the same things as the others had before her... frustration and delight at the same time...

 Looking great! Finished this Tuesday...

And two wild animals Very Well Done by Edith.
The tiger is gorgeous, and the Giraffe so special!

Live Midel drawing on Monday morning - with Marina

Last Monday: live model for starters, which means that we have longer poses and there's a bit of theory, this time about 'background' and 'proportions'. Two new participants joined, and in minutes they 'belonged'. We started as always with a 'warming up' - 6 poses of only 2 minutes and Miranda did a fantastic job there:

After that, two long poses, with a coffee break in the middle, and wonderful work by all! Some experimental, some academic, all original. Have a good look below if you wonder if this class is something for you: it probably is! The best way to start your week, very refreshing and good for your brain...

Tuesday 2 - 4.30 Aquarelle, with Marina

Absolutely stunning zebra-pic by Agnès.
The fact that she painted a part outside the borders makes it extra special!

The results of the Zebra project...
We've not had so many reactions in a long time, but everyone apparently likes watercolours of zebra's and other animals with interesting patterns... And all remarks and reactions came on the un-finished paintings! Here's the latest:
Agnès's next watercolour - the tiger. Again with stuff outside the borders...

Last week we finished most projects, and I am very happy with all that came out of it, most of the aquarellistas experienced the so-called left/right brainhalf  'crunch' (counting stripes versus painting wonderful colours) but persevered - and look what happened:
 Zebra by Avril
Running giraffe by Christiane, lovely patterns too!
For her granddaughter, who will love it I'm sure

Stripey Zebra by Christine. So well done!
After long deliberation she decided to remove the background. It will stay white (even those last pencil stripes will be removed). Good choice.

Costanza's colourful Zebra worked out really well!
After the zebra Elia was still in the African mood and started a giraffe

Elia's Giraffe: love the composition

Just a couple of colourful stripes- make a zebra eye! Good work and very recognizable. By Liz

Thirsty zebra by Sandra, great painting!

Penguin couple with baby ♥ by Liz

Still life with lemons by Yves
